Product Definition
Brucite is the mineral form of magnesium hydroxide, with the chemical formula Mg(OH)2. It is a common alteration product of periclase in marble; a low-temperature hydrothermal vein mineral in metamorphosed limestones. Brucite in found a variety of countries, mainly China and Eastern Russia. There are no active Brucite deposits in North America.
Uses
Brucite has many helpful uses. It is often used as flame retardant filler in the plastic industry and paper-making industry. It can be used as an additive in chemical fertilizer and the environmental protection field. It is also used as furnace additive in steel-making industry.
